Hiking with your hosts Sandra & Lenz

Enjoy homemade Kaiserschmarrn on the Großwildalm.

The hiking trail from the Breitenebenalm to the Großwildalm leads us through the local forest with its old spruce trees and their imposing, wildly branched branches. On our way past blooming flower meadows and natural fields we discover the fantastic Almrausch (also called Almrose, Latin: rhododendron ferrugineum) as well as mushrooms of all kinds.

We are happy about the numerous cows, sheep, goats and whistling marmots, who watch us calmly on our hike through the beautiful mountains of Großarl. An eagle circling above us and a buzzard accompany us for a while in the air. A wonderful feast for the senses!

We pass the friendly, greeting alpine people from the 40 managed alpine pastures in Grossarltal. Happy with these beautiful impressions, we reach the Großwildalm after two hours of walking - just like in the flight.

At the Großwildalm, Sandra is longingly waiting for Lenz and her hotel guests. We immediately start baking the homemade Kaiserschmarrns with stewed plums on our hob. The smell is so tempting that other hikers curiously peek in on the alpine pasture and want to know what we're doing there. With traditional music with singing and a mug of coffee, we enjoy our well-deserved, homemade lunch, mhhhhhhhhh ...

After an enjoyable lunch, we continue hiking across a flat alpine pasture, past the high moor up to the Ellmaualm (1794 meters).

After two hours of walking, we enjoy the regional Brettljausen high up on the Ellmaualm with its enchanting panorama. Then we go down in the direction of Grundlehen, from where we return to the Hotel Johanneshof by bus.

Our tip:
Hikers who don't want to go that far can walk back from the Großwildalm via the Karseggalm-Unterwandalm and from there to the Breitenebenalm.
We look forward to many companions!
