Climbing
In Großarl Valley there are 3 via ferratas: the via ferratas "Kupfergeist" and "Gletschergoas" in Hüttschlag and the via ferrata "Bella Cascinaia" at the Saukarkopf.

Hüttschlag - "Kupfergeist" and "Gletschergoaß":
In Hüttschlag there is a via ferrata with a length of 150 m. You have to get over 120 metres in altidude. The degrees of difficulty are D and E. You can walk easily to the start point of the via ferrata from Hüttschlag on a hiking path. For all those, who are not so good in climbing there is an "exercise via ferrata" with around 40 metres and degrees of difficulty B and C.
The via ferrata ends at a "panorama terrace", which you can reach on a marked hiking path although the last few metres are secured through ropes. You have to be free from giddiness if you walk to the "panorama terrace".
Nevertheless the view to Hüttschlag and to the end of the valley is just imposing.

Saukarkopf - "Bella Cascinaia":
A short but very beautiful via ferrata for sport climbers is at the Saukarkopf, which has 2.048 m altitude. The rock face towers over the mountain meadows. If you climb on this via ferrata you come directly to the peak of the Saukarkopf. From here you have a picturesque view to the Hochkönig, the Dachstein or the Ankogel. Climbing on the Bella Cascinaia is a challenge because you have to be free from giddiness and you have to be a good climber.
You can reach the via ferrata easily over the marked hiking path to the Saukaralm und further in direction Saukarkopf until the mark "Klettersteig".
The via ferrata has the difficulty levels C and D. You dismount the Saukarkopf on the marked hiking path.
